Custodial report finds Tasmanian prison is overcrowded and unfit for purpose

A report has found Tasmanian prisons are overcrowded, not fit for purpose, and the mental health and dignity of inmates is suffering. Tasmania's custodial inspector Richard Connock has said in his most recent report that the prison was coping with growing prisoner numbers by adding "temporary" beds to cells, but the beds had not proven to be temporary.
