Watch: Supreme Court to hear TMC's petition today

The All India Trinamool Congress moved a contempt petition before the Supreme Court over the alleged violence and campaign restrictions in Tripura on Monday. The TMC told the court that the law and order situation in the state is "worsening by the day." A bench of the Supreme Court led by Justice DY Chandrachud will hear the matter today.

Regarding campaign restrictions, the court had earlier asked the Tripura government to ensure that no political party fielding candidates in the upcoming civic body polls is "prevented from pursuing its electoral rights in accordance with law, and from campaigning in a peaceful and orderly manner".
