Dr Kafeel Khan Full Interview: On jail & India's child healthcare after Gorakhpur tragedy

Dr Kafeel Khan was there during the three worst days in Gorakhpur. Around 52 patients died, and over 30 of them were children. After the tragedy, he was put in jail along with some members of his staff. He was later released. Since then, Dr Khan still doesn't have his license back.

He says the main problem at the time of the encephalitis outbreak was the fact that the hospital had run out of oxygen. This, he says, is the reason the number of fatalities accelerated. Catch the full interview.
