Sabarimala Closed For 'Purification' After 2 Women Enter Temple

After two women below 50 years entered Kerala's Sabarimala Temple in early hours of Wednesday, the shrine has been shut for 'purification' rituals.

The temple was opened on December 30 for the Makaravillaku festival and there has been a heavy rush of pilgrims.

The famed temple had witnessed massive protests against the September 28 Supreme Court verdict allowing hitherto banned age group of girls and women to enter the Lord Ayyappa shrine.
