Manoj Jha reimagines India to be a nation with an effective parliamentary democracy, which signifies a true ‘parles’ that will debate, discuss, and argue to come to a democratic conclusion for the benefit of the masses. He reiterates that a democratic leader elected by the majority cannot and should not work only for the majority whimsically bypassing parliamentary procedures. At the same time, Mr. Jha discusses how the parliamentary democracy in India came into existence from the ideals of Gandhi, Ambedkar, and Nehru to establish the will of people through the legislation with repeated deliberations in the parliament on public issues. He reimagines a parliament that should symbolize the spirit of democracy by the total inclusiveness of diverse opinions.
‘Reimagining India’ hopes to start a conversation to explore the contours of a society that is more just, equal and aligned to the Constitutional values of liberty and fraternity. Over the next two months, beginning from Oct 2, 2021 , 50 lectures on relevant themes by leading public intellectuals and political leaders will provide an alternate vision for the country.
