1st ODI (Napier) I India (IND) vs New Zealand (NZ) 2019 I Preview I NZ dismissed for 157 in 38 overs
  • 3 years ago
India's tour of New Zealand is going to start at Napier on January 23, 2019. The Indian cricket team captain who was recently announced the ICC Cricketer of the Year, ICC Test Player of the Year and ICC ODI Player of the Year is optimistic for an Indian win in New Zealand. On the other hand, New Zealand's captain Kane Williamson just wants to evade Kohli's presence. Another senior New Zealand team player, Ross Taylor doesn't shy away from stating that Kohli is an important factor to counter for the side. But despite the buzz around Kohli, India's record in New Zealand is abysmal. In the last 6 ODIs India has played in New Zealand, they've lost 5 and tied one. But India's performance against Australia, especially the team's veteran MS Dhoni is a sigh of relief for the side going into the first ODI. Dhoni averages more than 90 with the bat in New Zealand which is far above any other Indian batsman. The last time Indian team visited New Zealand in 2014, they suffered a 4-nil loss. But Virat Kohli at the press conference stated that the Indian team has completely evolved since then and looks set to conquer New Zealand as well. The series is being clubbed as Kane Williamson vs Virat Kohli as both the batsman have been in top form in International cricket. Will India win the series opener and change its history in New Zealand.
