Pakistan’s 11th general election since 1970 has begun at 85,000 polling stations. 4,00,000 police officers and 371,388 army personnel have been deployed at the booths as a precautionary measure. With intense campaigning ahead ahead of the polls, over 105.95 million voters expected to turn up. The race is being led by candidates from three key parties: Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) (PML-N), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Peoples Party(PPP).
