European Shares Make Gains
Investors in Europe are more encouraged after a strong opening to the earnings season. Stock and indices gained across the continent with analysts believing that a global economic recovery is more likely than not. Sebastian Galy of Nordea Asset Management said, “Some volatility should be expected at a time when you have the earnings season.” He continued, however, noting that, “the long-term outlook is actually quite good.” The Euro STOXX 600 rose 0.1% and Nestle ($NSRGY@Switzerland) rose 3% after increasing its sales outlook. Conversely, ASML Holdings ($ASML@Netherlands) out of the Netherlands fell 1.8% even after releasing a better-than-expected quarterly report.
