Walmart has reportedly made a sizeable donation
to Gov. Greg Abbott's campaign for reelection.
The Republican governor has been in the news recently for his stance against vaccine mandates.
Those within the retail industry have expressed concerns that federal mandates would negatively impact operations for the upcoming
holiday shopping season.
Walmart's political action committee
made a donation to Abbott's
campaign worth $10,000.
Walmart also donated $5,000
to Lt. Governor Dan Patrick.
The retailer has made donations to the Texans before.
According to data compiled by CNN, Walmart has given at least $200,000 to Republican lawmakers who objected to the results of the 2020 election.
The Biden administration is
expected to publish rules for
a federal COVID-19 vaccine
mandate soon.
Biden previously announced the mandate would cover private entities with 100 employees or more.
Abbott has led the charge against vaccine mandates, recently signing an executive order
intended to prohibit them in Texas.
