Moringa plant has a height of 7-11 meters, woody trunk (lignosus), erect, dirty white, thin skin, rough surface; sympodial branching, the direction of the branch is upright or oblique, tends to grow straight and elongated. Moringa leaves have the following characteristics: compound, long-stemmed, arranged alternately, give birth to odd leaves (imparipinnatus), young leaves are light green in color. Fruits are long triangular, length 20 - 60 cm; young fruit is green - when old becomes brown, the shape of the seeds is round - blackish brown, bears fruit after 12 - 18 months. Taproot, white, enlarged like a turnip.
It grows in the lowlands and highlands up to an altitude of 1000 m above sea level, widely planted as a boundary or fence in the yard or field.
Research on the benefits of plants starting from the leaves, bark of Moringa stems, fruit to seeds, has been started since the early 1980s.
