Vegetable prices soar up in festive season

Amid fuel price hike, the vegetable prices seem to be soaring up causing trouble for the wholesalers and the customers. Tomatoes are especially seeing a hike in prices, now being sold at around Rs. 60 per kg in Karnataka, and Rs 30 to 40 per kg in Maharashtra. The national capital on the other hand is witnessing a hike of 25 percent in the prices of vegetables, upsetting wholesalers who claim that rainfall and an increase in fuel prices are the key reasons behind the hike. Rising vegetable prices have also put a dent in people's pockets. Onion, which was available at Rs 30 a kg a week ago, is being sold at Rs 60 per kg. Watch this video.
