Tata Sons wins bid to buy Air India for Rs 18,000 cr

Tata Sons has emerged as the successful bidder for national carrier Air India, the government announced on Friday. With this, Air India comes back to its founder after 68 years. The government decided to sell 100 per cent of its stake in Air India as the national carrier faced continued losses. The total debt on Air India as of August 31 was Rs 61,562 crore.
