Breakthrough: First Malaria Vaccine approved by WHO

The World Health Organization on Wednesday endorsed the RTS,S/AS01 malaria vaccine, the first against the mosquito-borne disease. It’s the very first vaccine offering immunity against a parasite-specifically the plasmodium falciparum parasite, which is the deadliest of the five parasites that cause malaria.
