Lakhimpur Kheri: UP Govt Announces Compensation, Stops Bhupesh Baghel, Charanjit Singh Channi from Visiting Violence-Hit District

On October 4, Bhupesh Baghel, Chhattisgarh chief minister lashed out at the Uttar Pradesh government. This comes after the UP government urged the Lucknow airport authorities not to allow him to land. Baghel was scheduled to visit Lakhimpur Kheri. The Chhattisgarh CM tweeted, “Have civil rights been suspended in Uttar Pradesh?” Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on October 4 had said that he would visit Lakhimpur Kheri, where 8 people, including 4 farmers died. However, the Uttar Pradesh government, wrote to the Punjab chief secretary, urging not to let anyone from the state go to Lakhimpur Kheri where Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) has been imposed. The Congress party has said that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was arrested in Hargaon and Akhilesh Yadav was taken into custody as he was staging a sit-in protest in Lucknow. Watch the video to know more.
