MP: Many women are reluctant to join politics due to the toxic culture

Batu Kawan MP Kasthuri Patto has asked the government whether they would amend laws to create a safe space for women to get involved in politics.
She said this is as many women are reluctant to join politics due to the toxic culture, including in the Dewan Rakyat where sexist remarks are made.
In reply to this, Women, Family, and Community Development Deputy Minister Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff said she welcomed any proposals on programmes for women's empowerment and the ministry was reviewing policies and laws that may discriminate against women.
