The condition of redness, irritation or infection in the pharynx is called "pharyngitis" or inflammation of the throat. The pharynx is a part of the throat, located behind the nose and mouth, and above the food pipe and windpipe. The main cause of sore throat is infection, which in most cases is caused by viruses and in some cases by bacteria.

फेरिंक्स (Pharynx) में लालिमा, जलन या संक्रमण की स्थिति को “फेरिंजाइटिस” (Pharyngitis) या गले में सूजन कहा जाता है। फेरिंक्स गले का एक हिस्सा होता है, जो नाक व मुंह के पीछे और भोजन नली व श्वास नली के ऊपर स्थित होता है। गले में सूजन का मुख्य कारण संक्रमण होता है, जो ज्यादातर मामलों में वायरस और कुछ मामलों में बैक्टीरिया का कारण होता है।
