Spain: La Palma Island Volcano Eruption Destroys Homes, Thousands Evacuated

Lava pouring from a volcano on La Palma island in Spain has damaged hundreds of homes. Thousands of people have been forced to flee. The lava has been spewing from the Cumbre Vieja volcano since September 19. The volcano in the Canary Islands has led to massive destruction. A local resident told BBC, “It’s difficult. You work all your life everything goes up in smoke.” No fatalities or injuries have been reported. La Palma had been put on high alert.
