Diego Armando Maradona was born in October 30th, 1960 and died on November 25, 2020 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is referred as the top footballer of the 80s and one of the greatest of all time.
He was famous for his great ability to control the ball and create scoring opportunities for himself as well as for others. He led teams in which he played in to worldwide championships, namely Argentina, Italy and Spain. He also won the World Cup within the Argentine national team in 1986.
He made his debut in the first-division in 1976 when he was only 14 and a few months later he entered the national team becoming the youngest Argentine ever to do so.
He moved to Europe playing with FC Barcelona in 1982 and won the Spanish Cup in 1983.
Then he played with SSC Napoli from 1984 to 1991 where he rose the team level and led them to victory in 1987 and 1990.
After being suspended for cocaine possession, he played for Sevilla in Spain and Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina. In 1995, he went back with Boca Juniors with whom he played his last game in October 25, 1997.
Maradona became a hero of the lower classes of Argentina and southern Italy.
He coached the Argentine national team in 2008 and led the team to quarterfinals in the 2010 World Cup and in 2011 he was hired to coach the United Arab Emirates Club Al Wasl but was fired the following year due to insufficient results.
