Though people across the Cauvery belt were rejoicing over the bountiful rain this monsoon, Torrential rains were witnessed in the Jamnagar, Junagadh, and Rajkot districts of Gujarat. Four days of torrential rains and spate of rivers have made the condition of Jamnagar and Junagadh miserable. The rain has stopped, but the villages are lying submerged here. In the city too, the first storey of the houses of many localities is submerged in rainwater. Several villages in rain-affected Gujarat have remained in the dark for the last five to six days owing to disconnection in power supply caused on account of trees falling on electricity poles. In the worst-hit villages, there is no power for over a week. Heavy rain accompanied by winds has brought down hundreds of electricity poles in the region. Watch this video.
