Oscar Fernandes, Veteran Congress Leader & Fmr Union Minister Dies; Rahul Gandhi PM Modi, Sitaram Yechury & Others Express Condolences

Oscar Fernandes, former Union Minister & veteran Congress leader, died on September 13. The former Rajya Sabha member died at a private hospital in Mangaluru. The senior congress leader is survived by his wife and two children. The 80-year-old veteran leader was hospitalised in July after he suffered a fall while doing yoga at his house. He had also undergone a surgery for the removal of a clot in his brain. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the death of the veteran leader. President of India, Ram Nath Kovind tweeted, “He was a leader rooted to the ground and committed to the welfare of people.” Former Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh said, “With his hard work, pleasant nature & popularity, he became one of the tallest leaders of Congress party from Karnataka.” Congress President, Sonia Gandhi said, “A Congressman to the core, a veteran Parliamentarian, a sensitive Minister who championed the cause of labour & underprivileged.” Senior Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “It is a personal loss for me. He was a guide and mentor to many of us in the Congress Party.” Sitaram Yechury said, “We were colleagues in the Rajya Sabha for more than a decade.” Watch the video to know more.
