Afghanistan: Taliban Fighters Raise Flag Outside Panjshir Governor's Office, Claim Resistance Front Has Been Defeated

A video which has gone viral on the internet shows armed Taliban fighters entering the Governor's house in Panjshir province and hoisting their flag. On September 6, the Taliban claimed the Panjshir province was \"completely conquered\". The Taliban and the National Resistance Front led by Ahmad Massoud have been engaged in intense fighting in Panjshir for several days now. Mujahid said that a number of resistance force members were beaten while the rest fled. He claimed that the \"oppressed and honorable people\" of Panjshir were released from hostages. In a press conference on September 6, Mujahid stated that electricity and Internet in Panjshir valley would be resumed. On September 3, Amrullah Saleh released a video claiming he is fine and the resistance will not bow down to terrorism.
