Teachers' Day is celebrated on September 5 annually in India. It marks the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. This day came into existence in 1962 in honour of the memory of Dr Radhakrishnan. Radhakrishnan was born in 1888 in a poor Brahmin family in Andhra Pradesh’s Tiruttani. A Bharat Ratna recipient, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was the first Vice President and second President of independent India. He played a key role in shaping India's academia. Teacher’s Day is celebrated across schools, colleges, universities and educational institutions. Students put on performances, dances, and host elaborate shows for their most-loved teachers. Teachers' Day 2021 celebrations will mostly be online as most schools continue to stay digital.
