Pres. Joe Biden told a reporter on Friday that social media platforms’ response to COVID-19 misinformation is ‘killing people.' Biden’s response comes after Dr. Vivek Murthy, the U.S. surgeon general, called health misinformation on social media ‘a serious threat to public health’ on July 15. Murthy said misinformation on social media was ‘one of several reasons’ people cite for not getting vaccinated.

There are ‘more than 1,000 new coronavirus infections every hour,' driven in large part by the more contagious Delta variant, reports USA Today.
