Patrick Assumpção is an agroforester from Brazil’s Paraíba Valley. Agroforestry is a type of agriculture that incorporates the cultivation and conservation of trees and shrubs. Assumpção, along with his local community, plants native trees on degraded land in order to grow food and build a rural economy.
