Lord Ganesha is one of the most revered deities, and Hindus pay their tributes to him before performing puja or initiating a new beginning. Hence, he is referred to as Pratham Pujaniya (meaning the first to be worshipped). Lord Ganesha, also known as Vinayak, Ganapati, Vighneshwara and several other names, is the son of Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati. And the Chaturthi Tithi, Shukla Paksha Bhadrapada (fourth day during the waxing phase of the Lunar cycle in Bhadrapada month), is believed to be the day when he was born. This year, Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on September 10.

भारत में लोग गणेश चतुर्थी (Ganesh Chaturthi) को बहुत धूमधाम के साथ मनाते हैं. हिंदू कैलेंडर के हिसाब से भाद्रपद मास की शुरुआत हो चुकी है. इस माह के शुक्ल पक्ष की चतुर्थी तिथि को गणेश चतुर्थी के रूप में मनाया जाता है. वैसे देखा जाए तो हर माह की चतुर्थी भगवान गणेश को ही समर्पित हैं, लेकिन भाद्रपद मास की शुक्ल पक्ष की चतुर्थी को बेहद खास माना जाता है. मान्यता है कि इसी चतुर्थी को गणपति का जन्म हुआ था. इस साल ये 10 सितंबर को मनाया जाएगा.
