Taliban Looks To Take Afghan Cap
The U.S. Intelligence Department reported on Wednesday morning that Taliban fighters are attempting to isolate and overtake the Afghan capital within 90 days as militants have already taken control of one-eighth of the provincial Afghan Capital city. Intelligence officials have related the new assessment to the departure of U.S.-led foreign forces in the area but also said this was not a “foregone conclusion” and that Afghan security could shift the momentum by increasing resistance. According to a statement from a senior EU official late Tuesday evening, Islamists now control nearly sixty-five percent of Afghanistan as a whole and are threatening to take complete control of eleven more provincial capitals.
