Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur was elated after Long Jumper Shaili Singh grabbed silver in the World Athletics U20 Championships in Nairobi on August 20. “I congratulate Shaili Singh for winning the silver medal for India. This is a sign that our young athletes are doing well,” the minister said. Shaili jumped 6.59m in third attempt registering her best show in event. Sweden’s Maja Askag won gold with a jump of 6.60m. This was India’s third medal in the ongoing World Athletics U20 Championships.
