इस साल 15 अगस्त के मौके पर Indian Navy देश भर के द्वीपों पर tricolor फहराने जा रही है। इसी कड़ी में Indian Navy का, Goa के Sao Jacinto द्वीप पर तिरंगा फहराने का भी कार्यक्रम था लेकिन यहां रहने वाले लोग नौसेना के इस कार्यक्रम का विरोध कर रहे हैं। स्‍थानीय निवासियों के विरोध को देखते हुए नौसेना अपना कार्यक्रम रद्द कर दिया है,। उसने राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराने की अपनी योजना को कैंसिल कर दिया है।नौसेना ने कहा है कि उसने स्वतंत्रता दिवस पर दक्षिण गोवा के साओ जैसिंटो द्वीप पर राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराने की अपनी योजना को स्थानीय निवासियों के विरोध के बाद रद्द कर दिया है। हालांकि, राज्य के Chief Minister Pramod Sawant ने इस मुद्दे पर कड़ी नाराजगी जताई है, उन्होंने नौसेना अधिकारियों से तिरंगा फहराने के कार्यक्रम को जारी रखने का अनुरोध किया है.
