Rs 19,500 crore PM-Kisan fund transferred to farmers; UN's code red climate change warning; more

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has virtually transferred about Rs 19,500 crore to over 9.75 crore farmers as part of the PM-Kisan scheme and noted how the country has seen the strength of its farmers during the Covid-19 pandemic. It is the ninth installment, amounting to a total of Rs 1.57 lakh crore for the farmer families under the PM-Kisan scheme. The Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change has warned of dangerous trends, saying that Earth will hit the critical 1.5 degrees Celsius warming in two decades. The Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) 'Climate Change 2021: The Physical Science Basis' said every region in the world is witnessing irreversible changes in climate due to human influence. "Today's IPCC Working Group 1 Report is a code red for humanity," said UN Secretary-General, António Guterres. Watch News Today with Rajdeep Sardesai for more.
