Uttar Pradesh is heading for assembly elections in 2022 and it promises to be a pitched, multi-cornered battle. The ruling party and those in the Opposition have strated preparations and are losing no opportunity to pull each other down. In a dig at the Congress party's dwindling electoral fortunes, state industrial development minister Satish Mahana said the grand old party is a "seven-seater" party in Uttar Pradesh and its status would decline further in the upcoming assembly polls.
