Pentagon Locked Down For Hours After Shooting Incident Kills At Least One Police Officer Outside US Defence Headquarters Compound

An officer died after being stabbed on August 3 outside the Pentagon, the headquarters of the US military. Violence was reported from a transit station outside the Pentagon on August 3. Reportedly, a suspect in the incident was shot by law enforcement and died at the scene. The Pentagon was put under a temporary lockdown after multiple gunshots were heard near the Transit Center. People were advised to avoid travelling to the area as it was deemed to be unsafe. The Pentagon Force Protection Agency later tweeted that the lockdown was lifted. Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff & US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin, were at the White House meeting with President Joe Biden, when the shooting attack took place. As per news agency the Associated Press, multiple gunshots were fired on a bus platform near Pentagon's Metro station. Reportedly, this facility is just steps away from the Pentagon building. The DC Police Department tweeted, “Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the line of duty death of a officer during today’s tragic events at the Pentagon.” Watch the video to know more.
