July 29 calculated as this year’s ‘Earth Overshoot Day’

July 29th has been calculated as the date when humans use more than the planet can remake. The date changes every year, and it’s been moving forward since it was first marked in the 1970s. Back then, it fell in late December. The organisation behind this is Global Footprint Network, and Laurel Hanscom is the CEO of the organisation.
