In response to the situation, 8 self-contained NDRF teams have been deployed in the affected districts of Maharashtra including Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Satara, Sangli, Sindhudurg, Nagpur and Kolhapur for rescue and relief work after consultation with state administration.

Rescuers of the teams are putting best efforts to provide immediate assistance to the needy in flood rescue operations. Rescue & relief operations are still in progress. In an incident, due to heavy rain in the region, a landslide occurred in Raigad district in which reportedly 36 people have died. 01 NDRF team is undertaking rescue efforts at the site of incident and one additional team has been attempted to be airlifted from Kurla to undertake the rescue operations at Raigad but could not land so far due to bad weather conditions.

The Force is constantly tracking the Metrological Department (IMD’s) weather forecast and Center Water Commission (CWC’s) report and acting accordingly. The NDRF commanders at the field are in touch with respective state authorities to render all possible assistance.
