Why Did the Celtics Hire Ime Udoka?

Celtics Theme from Coach Ime Udoka and the Boston Celtics front office is clearly banner 18 again.

For the decade following the 2008 championship (banner 17) the overriding theme from the Celtics brass to the players to the broadcast booth had been banner 18. Somewhere between Kyrie Irving's short layover in green and his burning sage on the fabled parquet, banner 18 became a whisper. When Irving slammed Boston with baseless, accusatory, passive-aggressive "wishes" for Celtics' fans behavior and demanding fans to "keep it to basketball." 24 hours later the teetering former Celtic did anything but "keep it to basketball" by sneering his boots in Red Auerbach's brothers' creation, the "Lucky Leprechaun" logo.

The narrative shifted to racism in Boston, a familiar implication to lifelong Bostonians. The outside noise seemed to overshadow any thoughts of banner 18.

The mission for the Celtics each and every season since hoisting the last banner seemed to be gone forever.
