Uttarakhand: Overflowing rivers due to heavy rain causing flood, landslides
  • 3 years ago
Due to heavy rains over the last week, Uttarakhand is witnessing overflowing rivers, causing floods and scary landslides. The water level of the Ganga has risen and is currently flowing 40 ft above the danger mark in Rishikesh. This is the highest it has been since the flood in 2013.

Several villages are in the dark as heavy rain has disrupted the supply of electricity in the area. In Rudraprayag, all the ghats and the famous Shiv Murti have been completely submerged in water. Similarly, Paramarth Niketan's famous Shiv Pratima in Rishikesh is almost submerged as the water level crossed danger level.
