So far, cases of the Delta Plus variant have been reported in four states: Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka. While five cases of the Delta Plus variant have been reported in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra has reported 21 cases of the Delta Plus variant of Covid-19. Three cases have been found in samples collected from the districts of Palakkad and Pathanamthitta in Kerala. While issuing an alert, the Centre has now advised the three states to take up immediate containment measures, enhance testing and tracking, and ramp up vaccination in districts and clusters where the new variant is found.
