President Rodrigo Roa Duterte graces the 123rd Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence at the Bulacan Capitol Grounds in Malolos City, Bulacan on June 12, 2021.
The President, together with Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Cirilito Sobejana and National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Chairperson Dr. Rene Escalante, leads the wreath-laying ceremony of the program.
Moreover, President Duterte confers posthumously the Order of Lapu-Lapu with the Rank of Magalong to Marcelo Del Pilar and General Gregorio Del Pilar. Ms Marita Villatema-Santos, grandniece of General Del Pilar, receives the award.
Today’s commemoration of Philippine Independence carries the theme ‘Kalayaan 2021: Diwa ng Kalayaan sa Pagkakaisa at Paghilom ng Bayan’ (Spirit of Freedom in Unity and National Healing).
