Many schemes have been made over the years to provide basic facilities to the Bonda tribals of Dongripada area in Malkangiri. Huge money is being spent for the execution of many schemes. The government has also created special schemes for the development and welfare of these tribals. However, in reality the situation is quite different.
These schemes have even failed to provide a glass of clean drinking water. The women of the tribe have to travel long distances to fetch water from waterfalls and other water bodies in the area. With no other option, the animals of the area too depend on nature for water.
An agency set up for the welfare of Bonda people made arrangements to supply water to the villagers from the waterfall, but the pipeline is virtually defunct due to corrosion and lack of repair. The locals alleged that their numerous complaints have yielded no results.
