A 64-year-old man has proved that age is no bar when one has the willingness to learn. Jay Kishore Pradhan has become a model of inspiration after he qualified the NEET examinations and got himself enrolled into MBBS course at VIMSAR medical college in Burla.
Meet Mr Pradhan from Attabira in Bargarh district. A banker by profession, Pradhan used to work with the State Bank of India. After his retirement, he is now pursuing his dream of becoming a doctor.
He had first appeared for the medical entrance test in 1974 but couldn’t get through. Disheartened, Pradhan decided to abandon his dream and join a bank instead. However, after Pradhan’s father’s was bedridden due to urinal ulcer, his love for service to humanity started germinating again.
Life took many twists and turns for Pradhan, who lost his eldest daughter. But this didn’t deter him to pursue his childhood dream. In fact, the trauma only strengthened Pradhan’s conviction for service and philanthropy. After the Supreme Court quashed the upper age limit for medical examinations, Pradhan was finally able to pursue his dreams to serve the society.
