Bihar CM Oath | Tarkishore Prasad & Renu Devi's Appointment Is Crucial in the BJP's Scheme of Things
  • 3 years ago
JD(U)’s President Nitish Kumar has taken oath for the record fourth-consecutive term today despite his party Janata Dal (United) winning 18% seats in the Bihar assembly.

As promised by BJP’s senior leadership before the elections, Kumar was given the chief ministerial position despite the party's considerable loss of seats this time.

On Sunday, Kumar met Bihar Governor Phagu Chauhan to stake claim to form the government in the state.

In a surprising development, Bihar will now have two deputy Chief Ministers.

MLA from Katihar constituency Tarkishore Prasad along with MLA from Bettiah constituency Renu Devi will take over as the deputy chief minister instead of Sushil Kumar Modi.

Sushil Modi, who was the Deputy Chief Minister in Nitish Kumar's last cabinet, said on twitter that Prasad was unanimously elected as the leader of BJP legislature party in Bihar.
Prasad told the media that he will carry out the duty to the best of his ability but refused to comment further on this appointment.
