Coronavirus Updates, April 12: After Bhilwara, Ladakh Emerges As A Success Story

Over 8,356 people have been infected by the novel coronavirus in India so far. Of which, 715 people have been cured and 274 people have died.

Gujarat reported deaths of 25 people on Sunday morning, taking the total number of infections in the state to 493.

Nagpur witnessed a huge jump in coronavirus positive cases on Sunday with as many as 14 people contracting the virus within 24-hours.

Maharashtra has recorded the highest number of deaths 127 people have died in the state so far.

The nation-wide lockdown in India looks likely to be extended by two more weeks till April-end after a consensus emerged among states on Saturday. The Prime Minister held a conference with chief ministers to discuss the same. And states concurred that thee lockdown should extend. Odisha, Punjab and Maharashtra have already extended state-wide lockdowns.

Globally, 1,776,157 confirmed cases were reported on Saturday morning. And the death toll of 108,804.

The US has become the world's first country to have registered more than 2,000 COVID-19 deaths in a single day. The number of infections in America has crossed 500,000, the highest in the world.

Russia on Sunday reported 2,186 new coronavirus cases, the largest daily increase since the start of the outbreak in the country. Over 15,770 people in India now have the virus.
