Why Meat Traders In UP Can’t Run Shops Even with Valid Licences

According to Indian law, meat traders cannot slaughter animals like buffaloes at their shops. They can only source meat from a slaughterhouse. But, with a crackdown on slaughterhouses, traders – mainly of the Quresh community – have no source of meat and their businesses are suffering.

In this video, Nafees Chaudhary, a social worker describes the plight of meat traders. Mohammad Noor, a meat trader shows proof of his valid licence and wishes to restart his business. Munni Qureshi, a homemaker says that it's getting difficult for the Quresh community to survive in the given circumstances.
