Keeping in mind the government's pulse promotion program, farmers in Maharashtra's Vidarbha region grew large amounts of tur. They even harvested a bumper crop but unfortunately tur prices have dropped to an all-time low this year due to a number of factors such as an oversupply, export restrictions and import of tur.

Farmers in Vidharbha are in extreme distress due to mounting financial burdens and the consequent threat to their livelihood.
