Manipur's 'Iron Lady’ Irom Sharmila campaigns for “clean, welfare-based government”

After ending her 16-year long fast on Aug 9, 2016, Irom Chanu Sharmila decided to contest the Manipur assembly elections from Peoples Resurgence and Justice Alliance, her new party.

Continuing her battle to end the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, also known as AFSPA, she also hopes to use her new political platform to create a clean and welfare based government in the state.
