What is Greenwashing?
Greenwashing is a form of marketing used to make seem the brand policies and goals environmentally friendly.
Putting more effort into marketing instead of actually reducing their impact.
Actually, it can even worsen environmental issues as it misleads well-intentioned consumers to the wrong path.
To know if a brand is greenwashing or not, you need to look at disparities between what they’re saying and what they’re doing.
Do your research about the brand and if necessary, ask information directly to it. If they truly are eco conscious, they’ll have no problem answering to you.
Brands now know that consumers require transparency but don’t get fooled with the wording.
Some will use numbers to misdirect you when it’s actually not enough to be considered as environmentally friendly.
Educate yourself on the good practices and uses to not misinterpret what the brand wants you to believe.
There are some companies that really worries about environment so it’s important to give them a chance to stand out.
Especially in front of others that just want to make more money taking advantage of the growing awareness to environmental problems.
