Meet Anne Marie Hamill

Anne Marie Hamill, from Co Louth, Leinster, Ireland, is an interior designer and the founder of Hamilton Interiors. She has been working as an interior designer since 2002 and, in that time, been honing her design skills to make her a skilled and capable professional.

Anne wasn’t always an interior designer, though. She started her career as a nurse before switching to interior design. She has actually found that switching from being a nurse to being an interior designer has helped her in her current career path, as unconventional as it may seem. As an interior designer, sometimes you have to deliver tough news to clients in a gentle manner. As a nurse, Anne Marie Hamill had to do this, so she was able to transfer that skill to her current career.

Her love for design and art came from her move to the United States. At seventeen years old, Anne Marie Hamill moved to the United States from Ireland. Her visa didn’t permit her to work while living in the States, so to pass the time, she visited art museums and took art classes. This time helped her to fall in love with art and, eventually, design.

Anne Marie Hamill’s design philosophy is focusing on great quality and detailed craftsmanship in the work that she does. People don’t only want beautiful rooms—they want rooms that reflect who they are as people. In Anne’s words, “Good design is like an excellent portrait. It tells the story of not just who you are, but it gives insight into your history and values.” As our homes are the backdrop to our lives, the design of each home must reflect a person’s spirit. Due to this, Anne Marie Hamill takes each home design very seriously.

She doesn’t work alone. In 2002, Anne Marie Hamill founded Hamilton Interiors. Hamilton Interiors compromises a group of highly creative designers who specialise in residential homes. Each of these designers is focused on bespoke interior design, or custom, made-to-order designs.

Recently, Anne Marie Hamill was featured on the RTE hit show “My Showhouse” as one of eight designers chosen from across the country. She and her team have been focusing on additions to current spaces rather than stand-alone projects due to the pandemic, but Anne and her team have embraced this change in course wholeheartedly.
