A film starring Clive Owen, Croupier, from 1998, was directed by Mike Hodges. The film has an interesting poker scene, but the plot itself is good. It is one of those films that you stumble while browsing the TV channels and stop to watch a piece and end up watching it all and, well ... Alex Kingston steals the film. Whoever watched the movie, will understand what I'm talking about.
I already admired Alex from Doctor Who 2005, and I admire her even more now. Not for the scene, but for the courage, boldness, and professionalism in making the scene.

Synopsis
Jack Manfred (Clive Owen) is an aspiring writer who to make ends meet, takes a job as a croupier. Jack remains an observer, knowing that everything in life is a gamble and that gamblers are born to lose. Inevitably, he gets sucked into the world of the casino which takes its toll on his relationships and the novel he is writing.
