Weekend lockdown in Uttar Pradesh from April 23; night curfew imposed in Telangana; more

The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday announced a statewide weekend lockdown to curb the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the state. The weekend lockdown will come into force from April 24. As per the new directive, districts with more than 500 active Covid-19 cases will also remain under night curfew, effective between 8 pm to 7 am every day, until further orders. As per the Union health ministry data provided on Tuesday morning, Uttar Pradesh reported 28,211 cases in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the Telangana government has imposed a night curfew in the state starting Tuesday a day after the high court expressed strong displeasure against the state's response to the Covid-19 crisis. The night curfew in Telangana will continue till April 30 and will come into force at 9 pm and end at 5 am.
