Fourteen young rheas, a terrestrial bird similar to African ostriches, are released in Chilean Patagonia after being raised in a breeding centre to preserve their locally endangered species. In 2014, the population of rheas in the area did not exceed 20, but thanks to this conservation programme, the presence of 68 adults and 24 chicks has been detected.
