The Campaign for a Commercial-free Childhood issued a letter urging the social media giant to
halt its plans for an Instagram for young children.
The current legal age to
join the app is 13 years old.
The letter, signed by 99 groups
and individuals, cites research from
The Royal Society for Public Health.
which ranked Instagram as the
worst social media platform
for youth mental health.
Facebook, which owns Instagram, has
been under increasing pressure to prevent
young children from joining the app.
